My thoughts on pop music and pop culture, plus the weekly playlists from THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana and Carl (Sunday nights 9 to Midnight Eastern, SPARK! Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist, with THE DAISY BANG
Although webcast woes scuttled this week's presumably-exciting edition of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl, I wanted to still hit you with a playlist here. But rather than imagine what we might have played (if we'd played), let's look at an entirely fake TIRnRR playlist instead. This is a modified version of a fake playlist we posted on Facebook last year, spotlighting the music of The Daisy Bang, a band that has never played, recorded, performed, or existed. The Daisy Bang's fictional history was created by writer David Smay for the book Bubblegum Music Is The Naked Truth; in addition to the Daisy Bang tracks, I've adjusted the original fake playlist to feature only fictional tracks, tweaked it just a bit, and have otherwise left everything the same as it was(n't) on July 5th of last year. Rock on, for those who didn't!
Listen: it's been a loooong time since This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio missed a show, a remarkable achievement for the notoriously glitch-prone Westcott Radio media empire. So it ain't a total loss, I'll post an imaginary playlist for a TIRnRR episode that never was and never will be. A fictional playlist merits a fictional Featured Artist, so enjoy this show dedicated in part to the music of THE DAISY BANG! And this is not what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a Sunday night in Syracuse this week.
THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl streams live every (HA!) Sunday night from 9 to Midnight Eastern, exclusively at .www.westcottradio.org. WE'LL BE BACK NEXT WEEK!
