My thoughts on pop music and pop culture, plus the weekly playlists from THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana and Carl (Sunday nights 9 to Midnight Eastern, SPARK! Super Secret Project
My This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio co-host Dana Bonn and I have been working on something. We've been annoyingly coy about it, referring to as Super Secret Project, though regular listeners of TIRnRR know exactly what it is. I apologize for the continuing silly tease, but there are a couple of details that need to be settled before we can announce that we're working on a new compilation CD called This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, Volume 4.
Oops.
Oh well. With an empty bag and an escaped feline, this is what we're willing to tell you so far. Like Volume 3 back in 2013, TIRnRR # 4 will be released on the ever-fab Kool Kat Musik label, and the release date is yet to be determined. Our theoretical profits from this CD will benefit our community radio station Spark Syracuse WSPJ as we work to get our terrestrial signal beamin' waves across Onondaga County (while still continuing our long-running webcast on Westcott Radio). These are the tracks that we can confirm at this time:
THE RUBINOOS: Nowheresville
POPDUDES: She Is Funny (In That Way)
P. HUX: Better Than Good
MR. ENCRYPTO & THE CYPHERS: Home On The Radio
MAURA & THE BRIGHT LIGHTS: Maybe Someday
POP CO-OP: You Don't Love Me Anymore
CIRCE LINK & CHRISTIAN NESMITH: I'm On Your Side
MICHAEL OLIVER & THE SACRED BAND, FEATURING DAVE MERRITT: You Won't Do
THE RULERS: I Want My Ramones Records Back [radio edit]
THE GRIP WEEDS: Strange Bird [single version remix]
LISA MYCHOLS: Almost Didn't Happen
1.4.5.: Your Own World [original version]
The collection will also include tracks by The Flashcubes, Ray Paul, Vegas With Randolph, The Legal Matters, and Chris von Sneidern, plus a few others that still fall under the "Super Secret" designation. It's not bravado to suggest that Dana and I are really, really good at slapping together irresistible playlists on TIRnRR, and that unique mutant skill set applies equally to compiling TIRnRR compilation CDs. You're gonna like this a lot.
But don't tell anybody about it yet. Or do. Secrets aren't always meant to last anyway.
