This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 871: When Wave Was New
WHEN WAVE WAS NEW! Pop Co-Op's debut record Four State Solution--your favorite album of 2017--includes a song by that very title, a celebration of the odd, quirky time in the late '70s and early '80s when young, distinctively dressed young men and women could stand with a synth at their hands and a song in their hearts. We loved the song, of course, and Dana wanted to pay proper tribute by dedicating this week's show exclusively to Pop Co-Op's "When Wave Was New" and the songs that inspired it. The result is the most MTV fun you can have without Martha Quinn. (Though, if Ms. Quinn ever wanted to join in, we would eagerly make room for her in our cramped little studio. Swoon....)
NEXT WEEK: We pay tribute to the fab book Play On! Power Pop Heroes, Volume 4 by our pal Ken Sharp, with an hour of music from the great pop artists interviewed in this latest volume. We'll also have more from our next magnum opus, This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, Volume 4. And this is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a Sunday night in Syracuse this week...when wave was new!
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl streams live on Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, exclusively at www.westcottradio.org
