22 of the 59 selections on this week's playlist are tracks we don't think we've ever played before. Nine of those are brand-new releases, one is a cut from a recently-released album (an album which has placed different tracks on previous playlists), and the other twelve are tracks we've just never gotten around to playing before. I heard Oscar Toney Jr.'s 1967 soul gem "Ain't That True Love" for the first time this week, and had to play it on the radio immediately.
Great records don't care what year it is. The only way--the only way--to put together a proper rockin' pop radio record party is to mix in stuff you know with stuff you've just discovered, and to season it all with stuff you may have forgotten to play before.
