Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO playlist: As mentioned in passing in THE GREATEST RECORD EVER MADE!

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

My book The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1) contains a little over 100 essays celebrating a little over 100 songs, each one The Greatest Record Ever Made (because an infinite number can be the greatest, as long as they take turns). There are, of course, far more than a mere 100 or so songs that could capture my fancy to that extent.

And, in discussing those 100+ individual great songs, a number of other great songs inevitably come up in the conversation, all helping to establish context, influence, comparative notes, and ever-changing mood.

This fake TIRnRR playlist is made from songs mentioned in the book, but not given their own chapter. It omits additional songs by artists covered in individual chapters, and it omits other recorded versions of songs covered in those individual chapters. This playlist is drawn only from songs mentioned in one or more of the main GREM! chapters, skipping any tracks that are mentioned only in the book's supplemental material. Some of the mentions are made merely in passing, but each of them is mentioned.

And each of 'em is pretty damned good.

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl--y'know, the real one--plays Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse on The Spark WSPJ-LP 103.3 and 93.7 FM, and on the web at http://sparksyracuse.org/

Hey, Carl's writin' a book! The Greatest Record Ever Made will contain 100 essays (and then some) about 100 tracks, plus two bonus instrumentals, each one of 'em THE greatest record ever made. An infinite number of records can each be the greatest record ever made, as long as they take turns. Updated initial information can be seen here: THE GREATEST RECORD EVER MADE!
