About Me

My photo

I'm the co-host of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl (Sunday nights, 9 to Midnight Eastern, www.westcottradio.org).  As a freelance writer, I contributed to Goldmine magazine from 1986-2006, wrote liner notes for Rhino Records' compilation CD Poptopia!  Power Pop Classics Of The '90s, and for releases by The Flashcubes, The Finkers, Screen Test, 1.4.5., and Jack "Penetrator" Lipton.  I contributed to the books Bubblegum Music Is The Naked Truth, Shake Some Action, Lost In The Grooves, and MusicHound Rock, and to DISCoveries, Amazing Heroes, The Comics Buyer's Guide, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Comics Collector, The Buffalo News, and The Syracuse New Times.  I also wrote the liner notes for the four THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO compilation CDs, because, well, who could stop me?  My standing offer to write liner notes for a Bay City Rollers compilation has remained criminally ignored.  Still intend to write and sell a Batman story someday.

THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Featured Artists

As I've said before, I approach this daily blog the same way I approach the weekly This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl:  I approach them as if there were an audience.  While the combined audience of Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) and TIRnRR is small in number, it's high in spirit (and occasionally high on spirits).

So, if TIRnRR were important, it would also be important to keep ongoing track of our Featured Artists.  I've been doing that on Facebook, and it occurs to me that I should be doing that here, as well.  More Featured Acts to come in future weeks!

This is a (presumably) complete list of all performers that have ever been a Featured Artist on THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl.   When we have a Featured Artist, that artist is played at least once per set in that week's show, which generally means a minimum of eight or nine tracks in a three-hour show (and often more than that).  Our first Featured Artist was The Kinks, who remain the only act to ever take over an entire episode of TIRnRR; in fact, we have now done TWO all-Kinks shows.  This list will continue to expand as we program more Featured Acts on future shows.
