Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: THE GREATEST RECORD EVER MADE! (A-Z songs, Z-A artists)

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

Well, this one's purely a lark. I slapped together a phony TIRnRR playlist consisting mostly of songs discussed in my book The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1): 26 tracks sequenced A-Z by song title, then 26 more tracks sequenced Z-A by the artist's name, with two numeric entries (one song, one artist) in between.

I couldn't quite pull it off with just chapters from my book, so I allowed myself to choose a different track by a GREM! artist wherever it suited me. That meant using "Vacation" by The Go-Go's instead of "We Got The Beat," Blondie's "X-Offender" instead of "(I'm Always Touched By Your) Presence, Dear," The Monkees' "Zor And Zam" instead of "Porpoise Song (Theme From Head)," and "Questioningly" instead of the subjects of any of my three Ramones chapters ("Blitzkrieg Bop," "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker," and "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?").

As for the Z-A artists, my book doesn't currently include chapters for any artists whose name starts with Z, Y, X, or U, so for this playlist I selected other GREM! candidates to fill the bill. An infinite number of songs can each be THE greatest record ever made, as long as they take turns. That means there's always room for one more. Turn it up.
