This week, the long-running weekly podcast The Spoon with Robbie Rist, Chris Jackson, and Thom Bowers lowered its admission standards to the lofty height of a speed bump and invited your intrepid This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio co-hosts Dana & Carl to participate. We felt like big shots! Obscure big shots, sure, but big shots nonetheless.
And it was a blast, a great opportunity to be our silly selves and pretend it's entertainment. In a fast-paced hour and change, we all discussed, ranted, and whined about radio, The Bay City Rollers, The Flashcubes, Eytan Mirsky, The Kennedys, The Replacements, KISS, The Linda Lindas, movies, health care tips, the challenges of doing weekly radio shows and podcasts during a pandemic, the miasma of '90s pop, 1970s AM Top 40, the Faustian bargain of teen idolatry, perseverance, Little Steven, Little Stevie Wonder, writer Colette Shaw's observation that Dana & Carl bicker like an old married couple, The Greatest Record Ever Made!, The Greatest Record You've Never Heard, hot dogs, and more. Let's see what The Men Of The Spoon have to say about this episode:
