The late, great Kim Shattuck would have been 60 years old last week, on July 17th. She's been gone almost four years now. We are fans. And we miss her.
Dana wanted to pay a little tribute to Kim's memory, so he programmed a few examples of her work with the Muffs, the Beards, and the Coolies. I liked what Dana was doing there, so I added a few more, showcasing our Kim rockin' out with the Pandoras and Derrick Anderson. We even rounded up a copy of Kim singing "I'll Always Remember You (That Way)" with Bowling For Soup. We threaded our collective tribute through our other TIRnRR selections, and let 'em all play.
And we looked to the sky. As the noted philosopher Bruce Wayne (or his ghost writer Alan Brennert) once said, "Her death was pointless, tragic...but I have long since given up trying to find meaning in death. The meaning is in life, not death...and [her] life was as full of meaning as it was of love, spirit, and courage. And when my time comes to join her, I would only hope the same could be said for me."
Kim, we'll always remember you that way. Rock on, Ms. Shattuck. Rock on.
