This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 1288

Somewhere in the middle of an overwhelming everything, all but obscured by the weight of drudgery and the sting of mortality, a certain delight prevails. Wait, let's amend that: A certain delight can prevail. Its success is not assured. It can stumble in shadow, fall silent in despair. It can die alone in the dark, unnoticed, unheard.

But sometimes delight can indeed prevail. Perhaps not for long, certainly not for sure. But we can't give up on it. Man, without delight, what's left?

So we try to nurture delight in all its myriad fleeting splendor. If we're lucky, we can delight in family and friends, in love, in hope, in faith if we have it, in belief if we can muster it. We find delight in sparkle and substance alike. As one of our heroes warned us: All things must pass. But as another hero reassured us: We all shine on. Like the moon and the stars and the sun. We shine on for as long as we can.

Here's a soundtrack for shining. We wish you as much delight as you can secure, for you and yours. Delight doesn't take our eyes off the prize. Delight reminds us of what the prize can be. Drudgery? Mortality? My delight's gonna shine just to spite those guys.

Shine with us. This is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on another Sunday night in Syracuse this week.
