About Me

My photo

I'm the co-host of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl (Sunday nights, 9 to Midnight Eastern, www.westcottradio.org).  As a freelance writer, I contributed to Goldmine magazine from 1986-2006, wrote liner notes for Rhino Records' compilation CD Poptopia!  Power Pop Classics Of The '90s, and for releases by The Flashcubes, The Finkers, Screen Test, 1.4.5., and Jack "Penetrator" Lipton.  I contributed to the books Bubblegum Music Is The Naked Truth, Shake Some Action, Lost In The Grooves, and MusicHound Rock, and to DISCoveries, Amazing Heroes, The Comics Buyer's Guide, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Comics Collector, The Buffalo News, and The Syracuse New Times.  I also wrote the liner notes for the four THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO compilation CDs, because, well, who could stop me?  My standing offer to write liner notes for a Bay City Rollers compilation has remained criminally ignored.  Still intend to write and sell a Batman story someday.

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 831

New MourningWhipped Cream & Other Delights

Welcome back once again to another exercise in The Best Three Hours Of Radio On The Whole Friggin' Planet!  This week's invigmoratin' edition of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl proudly presented brand-new music from The Jeremy Band, Ken Sharp, The Pondhawks, and The Forresters, and we gave each that always-coveted TIRnRR Seal O' Approval.  And then we surrounded all of 'em with more (otherwise) peerless pop, and we saw that it was good.  It's what we do!

NEXT WEEK:  The long-awaited return of The Meghan & Dana Show, as my daughter will once again match wits and records with my able co-host.  IN TWO WEEKS:  Well...! We may pre-record a show, or we may just leave you hangin', friends.  But either way, we ain't here.  Where will we be?  We'll be at...

...BRIGHT LIGHTS! The Syracuse New Wave Rock 'n' Roll Reunion takes place Sunday, July 3rd at Funk N' Waffles at 307-313 South Clinton Street in Syracuse.  Show starts promptly at 7 pm, with Maura & the Bright Lights, Tom Kenny, The Flashcubes, The Trend, The Dead Ducks, Screen Test, and a tribute to the late Norm Mattice, performed by The Richards.  Details of this irresistible event can be found here:  http://carlcafarelli.blogspot.com/2016/06/bright-lights-press-release.html  And $12 advance-sale tickets can be had at https://funknwaffles.ticketfly.com/event/1195607-bright-lights-syracuse-new-syracuse/  Your hosts are Dana & Carl, and we hope you'll join us! But for now, this is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a Sunday night in Syracuse this week.

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl streams live (almost) every Sunday night from 9 to Midnight Eastern, exclusively at www.westcottradio.org
