About Me

My photo

I'm the co-host of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl (Sunday nights, 9 to Midnight Eastern, www.westcottradio.org).  As a freelance writer, I contributed to Goldmine magazine from 1986-2006, wrote liner notes for Rhino Records' compilation CD Poptopia!  Power Pop Classics Of The '90s, and for releases by The Flashcubes, The Finkers, Screen Test, 1.4.5., and Jack "Penetrator" Lipton.  I contributed to the books Bubblegum Music Is The Naked Truth, Shake Some Action, Lost In The Grooves, and MusicHound Rock, and to DISCoveries, Amazing Heroes, The Comics Buyer's Guide, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Comics Collector, The Buffalo News, and The Syracuse New Times.  I also wrote the liner notes for the three THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO compilation CDs, because, well, who could stop me?  My standing offer to write liner notes for a Bay City Rollers compilation has remained criminally ignored.  Still intend to write and sell a Batman story someday.

Tonight on THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio has been cheering for Jeff Shelton since his Spinning Jennies days, and we've continued to do the loud 'n' proud radio thing for Jeff's subsequent work with The Well Wishers and Hot Nun. News of a new album from The Well Wishers gives us giddy license to get even louder 'n' prouder, and--let's face it!--we're just plain irresistible when we're enthused about new pop music.  We'll further entice you with more new music from another pair of TIRnRR faves, Laurie Biagini and Jamie Hoover (the latter represented by Stepford Knives).  We also have the belated TIRnRR debut of the latest from Cheap Trick, more spins of the latest from The Monkees, and a plethora o' pristine pop that will demand more volume than your cheapass speakers could ever handle.  But it'll be worth it--it's pop musicYour speakers would want to go out in style.  Give 'em their one last wish:  Sunday night, 9 to Midnight Eastern, www.westcottradio.org
