Several years back, I compiled a list of acts I thought had been overlooked by The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Many of these acts have since been inducted into the Hall, and a few of them have been nominated this year, while others remain in the perpetually-snubbed category. This is certainly not a comprehensive list; even just looking at it now, I see I omitted The Crystals, Lesley Gore, The Jam, Carole King, Harry Nilsson, Slade, Joe Tex, and Warren Zevon, and I surely missed many more worthy would-be inductees. My notes on this don't indicate a date, but it would seem to be from around 2004, I'd guess. Artists (like The Go-Go's) who didn't become eligible until after that year are not listed.
As I said yesterday, I'm a big tent kinda guy when it comes to honoring the performers we love, the performers who've had impact on the music we love. Tomorrow, we'll go through this year's nominees.
