THAT VERY FIRST KISS: THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Overdoes It Again!

As Dana and I look ahead to our blowout 1000th episode of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio next week, we realize that one can't do a properly rockin' observation of 1000 shows--1000 SHOWS!!!--in a mere three-hour radio slot. But we don't want to do a show longer than three hours, since that happens to be the perfect amount of time for The Best Three Hours Of Radio On The Whole Friggin' Planet. It's a scientific fact. So...how do we expand the party?

Oh, right. We do two shows. Duh.

Yeah, the pyrotechnics accompanying TIRnRR # 1000 will actually start this week, with our 999th show on Sunday, November 3rd. The thousandth show will be an improvised explosion of some of TIRnRR's greatest hits; but first, good ol' # 999 will light the fuse with a specific celebration of the first tracks we ever played by a number of TIRnRR Fave Raves. Billed as That Very First Kiss (Every Rock 'n' Roll Story Starts Somewhere), you'll hear the first Ramones track we ever played, our first Isley Brothers track, our first Shonen Knife, and reprises of our first spins of The Bangles, The Monkees, P. P. ArnoldThe Clash, Prince, and many more. Three hours worth of more!

Since we're thinking of # 999 and # 1000 as forming two halves of an epic six-hour show, there will be no tracks repeated from one half to the next. We think we can pull of a 1000th show extravaganza like no one else could. We are, of course, delusional. BUT! We're also pretty decent at this thing. We have nearly one thousand shows to submit as evidence on our behalf.

TIRnRR # 999: That Very First Kiss (Every Rock 'n' Roll Story Starts Somewhere) occurs this Sunday, November 3rd, and TIRnRR # 1000 is Sunday, November 10th. This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK! WSPJ 103.3 and 93.7 FM, and on the web at http://sparksyracuse.org/ You can't miss these.
