THAT VERY FIRST KISS: TIRnRR Debut Track Stats

With This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 1000 coming up this Sunday, November 10th, we wanted to kick off the proceedings a week early. So TIRnRR # 999 was billed as That Very First Kiss: Every Rock 'n' Roll Story Starts Somewhere, as we presented encore spins of the first tracks we ever played by a few of the thousands of acts we've programmed over the past 998 shows.

To determine which tracks represented those First Kisses, we gave a list of acts to our intrepid stats man Fritz Van Leaven. The list consisted of a number of artists who've been played more than once on TIRnRR, and it was slapped together by me in my best seat-of-the-pants approach. We couldn't attempt a list of all of those thousands of acts, and there is certainly a very long honor roll of more acts we could have included, from Smokey Robinson & the Miracles to Lulu to The Dipsomaniacs to Bebe Buell. But we went with the list we had, turned it over to Fritz, and he gave the stats. Then we took those 200+ tracks. and played less than a quarter of them on TIRnRR # 999. A splendid time was vaguely hinted for all, but damn, it was a good show!

For posterity and exuberance, here's the list of stats that Fritz provided. Enjoy! And don't miss This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 1000 this Sunday.
