This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.
Ah, those rock 'n' roll combos with the crazy, kookie names! Though some of the names weren't all that kookie, right? Today's exercise in imaginary playlist engineering slaps together some mighty fine tracks by a bunch of groups who stuck to the blueprint when choosing their noms de bop: [Name] and the [Whatchacallit]s.
With no shortage of qualifying combos, we're sticking strictly to that blueprint. Our insistence on a definite article bars, say, Paul McCartney and Wings, the specific requirement for names ending in plural nouns excludes Prince and the Revolution, and even guidelines for cadence and a concluding "S" prohibit Tammy and the Lords of Misrule. Nope. Today's roster is reserved exclusively for Somebody and the Somethings.
And it's somethin' else, man. It's just somethin' else.
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl--y'know, the real one--airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK! WSPJ 103.3 and 93.7 FM, streaming at SPARK stream, archived at Westcott Radio. You can read about our history here. TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS are always welcome.
The many fine This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio compilation albums are still available, each full of that rockin' pop sound you crave. A portion of all sales benefit our perpetually cash-strapped community radio project:
