Charity is not a vice. Empathy is not a sin. Lending a hand makes us stronger, not weaker. This world should be big enough for all of us, but small enough to remind us of the importance of caring for one another.
This week's program celebrates the release of Pop Aid 2, a splendid new various-artists set that Kool Kat Musik is selling to benefit victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Good music for a good cause.
Good causes are vast in number. There will never be a shortage of troubles for us to address, and by God, we will address them all to the best of our ability: With the virtue of charity, the salvation of empathy, and the vitality we sustain by helping each other.
Pop radio is not our first line of defense. And I wish more people in positions of power understood and carried out our shared responsibility to rise above pettiness. But right now, people of conscience stand ready to do what we can. On Pop Aid 2, a track from Thrift Store Halo asks the titular question, "Do you still feel like I do?" Damned straight we do. This is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on another Sunday night in Syracuse this week.
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK! WSPJ 103.3 and 93.7 FM, streaming at SPARK stream, and on the Radio Garden app as WESTCOTT RADIO. Recent shows are archived at Westcott Radio
