THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Flashback: MAD MONSTER PARTY

From the TIRnRR archives: a 2010 playlist spotlighting our Featured Act, Mad Monster Party. I had never even heard of Mad Monster Party until maybe two weeks before we did this show. I discovered the group (which included two former members of The Pandoras) while prepping for a Pandoras feature the previous week, and I became a big fan immediately. Mad Monster Party's wonderful "Can't Stop Loving You" made its CD debut on our This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, Volume 3 compilation in 2013, and the group's entire fab catalog is now available to download from CD Baby

This week's edition of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl cast its dim widdle spotlight on the music of MAD MONSTER PARTY, a simply terrific, all-female rockin' pop group from the late '80s.  Mad Monster Party included two former members of The Pandoras, Gwynne Kahn and Bambi Conway, and the group recorded one magnificent album that has never been released.  We played a bunch of tracks from that album, along with brand new music from STEVE BARTON, THE VILLAS, THE STERLING LOONS and BLANK PAGES, accompanied by the irresistible likes of COTTON MATHER, THE KINKS, WRECKLESS ERIC, THE GRATEFUL DEAD, SHONEN KNIFE, JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS, THE FLASHCUBES, THE MUFFS, THE HOLLIES, JANA PERI, JOE JACKSON, THE MOCKERS, NEIL YOUNG, XTC, CHUCK BERRY, DEADBEAT POETS, THE POOH STICKS, WHITE STRIPES, THE OSMONDS, THE ZOMBIES, AMY RIGBY and THE JUDYBATS.

TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS go to Syracuse Community Radio, 826 Euclid Avenue, Syracuse, NY  13210.  Please let us know if you need to be deleted from our weekly greetings.  NEXT WEEK:  a tribute to the late, lamented NOT LAME RECORDINGS.  And this is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a Sunday night Mad Monster Party in Syracuse this week.

THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl streams live every Sunday night from 9 to Midnight Eastern, exclusively at www.westcottradio.org.
