Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL Playlist: Virtual Ticket Stub Gallery (One Degree Of Separation)

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

Today's imaginary playlist collects tracks by a number of performers whom I've never had the pleasure of seeing in concert. But, in each case, the performer has some legit musical connection to some other performer who is in my Virtual Ticket Stub Gallery. To the best of my effort, the tracks listed do not include direct involvement or participation by anyone I've ever seen live. I'm pretty sure I fudged a few here and there, but I did make a good-faith stab at limiting the choices below to performers from whose in-concert experience I am separated by precisely one degree.

These connections had to be specifically musical; a lover or friend or casual acquaintance of a performer I saw wouldn't cross the required one degree unless there was a musical collaboration of some kind. Accepted collaborations include recording together and/or playing together, whether a thousand times or just once; it does not include merely touring together, unless the act I saw and the act I never saw both appeared together on stage. Nor do songwriters count--Carole King's "Natural Woman" doesn't get me to Aretha Franklin--but producers do count, and so do managers. I made the game, so I make the rules.

As always: at no point in this process am I under oath. But it was fun! Welcome to a fake TIRnRR playlist dedicated to my Virtual Ticket Stub Gallery...one step removed.
