Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: Introduced On A Compilation Album

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

As a lifelong fan of rockin' pop music, I owe a great debt to compilation albums, various-artists collections that introduced me to tracks I didn't know before, and often to artists I didn't know before. Right now, we're preparing for the imminent release of our own forthcoming new compilation album This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, Volume 5. That seems like a good excuse to throw together a fake TIRnRR playlist devoted to tracks I first heard on compilation albums.

Each of the songs included in today's exercise is a track I learned from a compilation album. Some of 'em I may have heard before giving a local music peddler a little bit of cash in exchange for my very own copy of, say, The History Of British Rock, Vol. 2. But whether actual introduction or belated awareness, it was a spin of a compilation album that made me take notice of each and every one of these gems.

Yellow Pills. Heavy Metal. Geef Voor New Wave. 20 Heavy Hits. Wanna Buy A Bridge? Do It Now. Ear Piercing PunkTroublemakers. The Girls Can't Help It. Hit By A Succession Of Bricks. Garage Sale. Experiments In DestinyNuggets. That Summer! The Super Groups. Smash Sounds. And many more. Great things happen when musicians gather. Here are a few songs I picked up from listening to such gatherings. Compilations rule OK.
