Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: Covers in the 1960s

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

We did a fake playlist of covers from the '70s, '80s, and '90s last week, and we moved up to 21st century covers yesterday. Now, we complete our celebration of people doing other people's stuff with some covers from the 1960s.

And, just as our '70s/'80s/'90s playlists featured the Ramones in each set and our 2000 through 2024 songfest featured the Flashcubes, today's exercise in imaginary playlisting features the Beatles.

And you know that can't be bad. (For more on covers recorded by the act you've known for all these years, check out my fancy of an all-covers album by the Beatles: Leave My Kitten Alone.)

We'll hear the Beatles, the Ramones, and the Flashcubes on our real-world TIRnRR this Sunday night, though only the 'Cubes track is a cover. BUT! We will have covers from across the timeline, courtesy of Carla Olson, Susanna Hoffs (solo and with Matthew Sweet), Millie Small, the Well Wishers, Linda Ronstadt, Trolley, Juniper, and Michael Carpenter, mixed with a number of artists performing their own material, too.

Best three hours of radio on the whole friggin' planet. Doesn't matter who wrote the song or who recorded it first. If it's a great record, well, that's ALL that matters. Set your radio to its DAZZLE setting. And join us on Sunday night.

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl--y'know, the real one--airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK!
