Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: 1970s Power Pop

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

As I write this on Wednesday, I've finished recording my parts for this coming Sunday night's real-world edition of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, and sent the files to Dana so he can perform the arcane alchemy that turns it all into a radio show. We're going to be featuring the late, great Eric Carmen, with Carmen appearing at least once in each set throughout the course of the show.

That will, of course, include our Federally-mandated maximum of four tracks by the Raspberries. The sheer importance of the Raspberries upon my development as a rockin' pop fan is immense and ongoing, and that's reflected in Sunday's show.

But I also want to use this fake playlist to pay tribute to the larger world of power pop in the '70s. The Raspberries were, I think (and Bomp! magazine's Greg Shaw and Gary Sperrazza! agreed), the definitive '70s power group. So here's an imaginary playlist of the Raspberries and friends in the '70s.

Pop with power. It's ecstasy. Go all the way
