Here's the fourth and final issue of Captain Marvel, M. F. Enterprises' 1966 attempt to cash in on Batmania (and its attendant frenzy for all things superheroic) by ripping off the name of the best-selling superhero of the '40s and slappin' it on an entirely unrelated character who could split his body parts and pound bad guys with them. Sounds foolproof! Alas, fools did not rush in, and the Captain's run was short-lived.
But this was not quite the end of our Detachable Defender. Carl Burgos' creation lived to fight another day in two issues of Captain Marvel Presents The Terrible Five, and we should get to those in due time. Meanwhile, we invite you to look back at Captain Marvel # 1 , Captain Marvel # 2, and Captain Marvel # 3. M. F. Enterprises' Captain Marvel is likely an orphaned property, but we'll presume it's copyright the respective owner, and presented here as fair use. Gangway for Captain Marvel # 4!
