Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: The Song Retains The Name

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

You can't copyright a song title. As long as a song isn't a ripoff of a previous song, it's okay to re-use an older title for a presumably fresh composition. Sometimes the re-use is deliberate, but I think more often it's merely a familiar word or phrase not necessarily tethered to one song alone. Either way, it's an excuse to cobble together a fake This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio playlist presenting pairs of different songs that share the same title.

To qualify, the titles need to be precise matches; "The Stand" is not the same title as "Stand!," "Cherry Baby" is not "Cherry Oh Baby," "Rock And Roll" ain't "Rock And Roll, Pt. 2," "I Got You" differs from "I Got You (I Feel Good)," and "Too Late," "It's Too Late," and "It's Too Late Now" are three different titles. Don't worry baby; we still had plenty to choose from while staying within the lines. What's in a name? The songs still sound as sweet.

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl--y'know, the real one--plays Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse on The Spark WSPJ-LP 103.3 and 93.7 FM, and on the web at http://sparksyracuse.org/
