This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 963

Peter Tork wanted to be a musician. He became famous, a face on TV screens and magazine covers, another pinup idol on the wall. That was never all that he was. The Monkees‘ origin was artificial, but Tork helped them to become something real. On an episode of the group’s TV series, the devil himself offered Peter fame and fortune in exchange for his soul. But Peter Tork didn’t want fame and fortune. He just wanted to make music. He made his music. He kept his soul. For these reasons and more, This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio remembers Peter Tork.

We were born to love one another
This is something we all need
We were born to love one another
We must be what we're going to be
And what we have to be
Is free
