MY WEEKLY VIDEO BLOG: THE GREATEST RECORD EVER MADE! # 2: Badfinger, "Baby Blue"

An infinite number of songs can each be THE greatest record ever made, as long as they take turns. I like that idea so much, I'm writing a book about it. And what's a book without accompanying video hype?

Here's a link to the second video in my weekly YouTube series The Greatest Record Ever Made! These are, of course, blatant attempts to grab attention for my book in progress, The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). This week's GREM! video spotlight falls upon my appreciation of "Baby Blue" by Badfinger.

Man, I look panicked there. Must be my shyness coming out.

A couple of last week's viewers suggesting adding audio of the song at hand as a handy reference point for anyone not familiar with the actual record. I experimented with it this time, but I was unhappy with the result--it sounded awful--and wound up doing the video without using the song itself. I have added separate videos of both this week's Badfinger song and last week's Ramones song to my YouTube playlist "The Greatest Record Ever Made!"

I'm still getting the hang of this, and I hope to improve as I continue. There are at least two glaring errors in this week's video, each the result of a slip of the tongue rather than outright ignorance (I think). These videos are ad-libbed, so I'm bound to make mistakes. Still, I aim to minimize those flubs over time. I won't be eliminating them--let's not get crazy--but I do intend to try. (I won't rule out working from a script at some point, but for the time being, I'm attempting to wing it with minimal notes. And a lot of re-takes. Oh, and charm! Vigor and charm!)

NEXT WEEK: just in time for Halloween, The Greatest Record Ever Made! will be all about "The Transylvania Twist" by Baron Daemon and the Vampires. And, right after Election Day, we'll turn to Chuck Berry and "Promised Land." If you dig these, please subscribe to my channel and order your minions...friends to check 'em out.
