MY NEW WEEKLY VIDEO BLOG: THE GREATEST RECORD EVER MADE! # 1: The Ramones, "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?"

When this week began, I had no intention of ever becoming a video blogger. None. Just a few days later, I've started a weekly short video blog on YouTube: The Greatest Record Ever Made!

An infinite number of songs can each be THE greatest record ever made, as long as they take turns. The idea for a GREM! video blog came from my friend Dave Murray, who suggested it as a good way to promote my book in progress The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). Every week, I'm going to post a short video of me talking about one of the 166 songs covered in the book. I may occasionally shift the focus to a worthy GREM! candidate that's not in the book, but we'll see what rules I decide to fabricate as I go. This initial video discusses the song billed as the book's overture, setting the the stage for whatever the hell it is I'm doing for the rest of the book. That overture song is "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?" by The Ramones. You can see that video right here:

Well. I feel like a star.

Next week, the GREM! video spotlight will fall on Badfinger's "Baby Blue," which was the subject of my very first GREM! essay waaaay back when. Come to think of it, it was Dave Murray who suggested I start writing blog pieces pursuing my GREM! concept, and Dave Murray was one of a few voices (not counting the ones in my head) urging me to turn the concept into a book. Man, that Dave Murray gets me into a lot of trouble, doesn't he?

And I thank him for it. My weekly video series begins now with The Ramones' "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?" Stay tuned for more rock 'n' roll.
