Captain Marvel Presents The Terrible 5 # 5

All good things must come to an end. Things that maybe aren't so great often end, too. And so Captain Marvel Presents The Terrible 5 # 5 brings the short but...well, just short career of M.F. Enterprises' Captain Marvel character to its end. Although this is the second issue, it continues its numbering from the four-issue Captain Marvel series. Created by Carl Burgos (whose Golden Age character The Human Torch looms a bit larger in the history of comics than our Cap here), the Detachable Defender lasted four issues in his own title and two issues of this Terrible 5 offshoot before splitting the scene for good in 1967.

"The Villians Are Coming!" Er...maybe an invasion from the planet Vill or something?

Shortly after M.F.'s Captain Marvel ended, Marvel Comics introduced its own new character of the same name, the first of several Captains Marvel from The House Of Ideas. The original Golden Age Captain Marvel, published by Fawcett Comics in the '40s and early '50s, was revived by former rival DC Comics as Shazam! in the '70s. A revival of M.F.'s Cap seems unlikely.

If you missed Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do)'s previous encore presentations of Captain Marvel, don't despair--they're still here: Captain Marvel # 1, # 2# 3, and # 4, plus Captain Marvel Presents The Terrible 5 # 1. M. F. Enterprises' Captain Marvel is likely an orphaned property, but we'll presume it's copyright the respective owner, and presented here as fair use. Time to say goodbye! Please enjoy Captain Marvel Presents The Terrible 5 # 5.
