Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: Better-Known Covers

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

Here's a nice 'n' straightforward fake TIRnRR playlist, gathering various cover tunes that wound up more widely-known than the original records that inspired them. Some of these are better than the (relatively) forgotten original, and some are not, but each is at least worthy of an appreciative spin on a virtual radio show, or even on a real radio show. Ain't nothing that here that isn't pretty swell in its own right.

Some of our previous exercises in phonus-balonus playlist building have likewise danced to the concepts of covers and/or originals: The Forgotten Originals!, Definitive Covers, Meet The Song! (By Whatever Means Necessary), and The Hit Songs You Know! (maybe not by the artist you expect). In the real world, TIRnRR has done a few all-covers shows, and a Forgotten Originals! show in 2015. Whether it's a cover or an original, let the music play. A great song is its own reward.

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl--y'know, the real one--airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK! WSPJ 103.3 and 93.7 FM, and on the web at westcottradio.org You can read all about this show's long and weird history here: Boppin' The Whole Friggin' Planet (The History Of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO). TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS are always welcome.
