Blogkeeping: A New Year

As Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) approaches its third anniversary on January 18th, here's a quick look at some of what's coming:

The next edition of The Greatest Record Ever Made will post within a day or two; fitting for this time of year, it will be a celebration of Eytan Mirsky's incredible "This Year's Gonna Be Our Year." This piece was planned to run today, but I got sidetracked working on something else first.

The next edition of 100-Page FAKES! will serve up a faux expansion of Adventure Comics # 443, starring Aquaman and concluding The Seven Soldiers Of Victory's run in Adventure. I'm not sure whether or not this will be my final FAKE! issue of Adventure, but even if it is, there are still a few more phony 100-page versions of other DC Comics titles before I pull the plug on 100-Page FAKES!

Prior to this coming Sunday's 20th annual This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio year-end countdown show, I'll be posting a list of all of the tracks that made Countdowns # 1-19. Boppin' The Whole Friggin' Planet, my history of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, will resume soon with Part 3: I'll Send You A Tape From Central New York, covering the last bits of TIRnRR prehistory 1992-1998. The series will continue thereafter, chronicling two decades of The Best Three Hours Of Radio On The Whole Friggin' Planet.

Those are the things that are short-term and definite. I'll also be returning soon to The Everlasting First, picking up with S is for The Shadow. There's a near-future Second-Hand Sound piece discussing The Monkees' Headquarters and The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees LPs, both of which I bought on the same flea market run circa 1976. I'm thinking of doing a piece about The Beatles' U.S. Capitol LPs, since those much-maligned vinyl concoctions were how I came to know The Beatles in the first place. And there are, as always, a number of other things that I'll know about when they suddenly occur to me. A Bop a day, every day.
