Dana and I programmed this week's show on Tuesday night. The tracks were gathered and set in place over the course of Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. I recorded my commentary and shipped the package to Dana so he could add bits as needed and perform the alchemy that turns this all into a radio show. The pre-alchemy process was all accomplished by mid-day on Wednesday.
On Wednesday night, we received a new single by the Flashcubes. Specifically, a new version of the Paley Brothers' "Come Out And Play," remade and remodeled by the combined forces of the 'Cubes and the Paleys. WAIT!WAIT!WAIT!WAIT!WAIT! Suddenly, this week's show needed a little bit of extra tweaking.
Well worth it!
Dana hadn't yet gotten deep into production, so it was just a matter of swapping out some songs to make room, having me redo three of the spoken breaks, and shipping the adjustments to Dana. I got up early Thursday morning, and made the corrections before heading off to the ol' day job. PRESTO! We were able to open this week's show with "Come Out And Play" by the Flashcubes featuring the Paley Brothers.
Alchemy is its own reward. So is pop music. And oh YEAH, it's worth it. This is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a Sunday night in Syracuse this week.
