Each week, the pop culture website Pop-A-Looza shares some posts from my vast 'n' captivating Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) archives. Because an infinite number of songs can each be THE greatest record ever made, as long as they take turns, the latest shared post celebrates another GREM!: "Thank You, Girl" by the Beatles.
Man, how do I cherry-pick just a few of my many Beatles-related ramblings to use as supplemental links today? Let's go with my fantasy piece about a 1976 Beatles reunion concert, my album appreciations of Beatles '65/Beatles VI/Beatles For Sale, Sgt. Pepper, and the White Album, the Beatles' imaginary all-covers album, why the Beatles are underrated, that time the Beatles ripped off the Dave Clark Five, my 25 favorite Beatles tracks, my GREM! video for "Yesterday," and an essay on behalf of yet another GREM! by the Beatles, "Rain."
The GREM! piece about "Rain" will also appear in my long-threatened book The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1) (if that ever becomes a book), and we'll hear it on the radio in Syracuse on Sunday night, August 29th, when This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl will be serving up three hours' worth of GREM! Yes, it's a finite glimpse of the infinite. The Beatles' "Thank You, Girl" falls outside that particular finite glimpse, but it is the proud subject of the latest Boppin' Pop-A-Looza.
