More Books by Me?

In 2023, I realized my dream of getting a book published. My book Gabba Gabba Hey! A Conversation With The Ramones came out in May. I did some publicity for it, including TV and website interviews, a book release party, and in-store appearances at book stores in Syracuse and record stores in Syracuse and New York City. It was a heady experience summarized here, with some mistakes made along the way. I think I've learned from the mistakes, and I hope to have opportunities to put those particular life lessons into practice.

I've completed another book, The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). It's pretty good, man. Some days, I have a cautious optimism that book will also see print, and some days...y'know. Today, it happens I'm not feeling particularly confident in the book's path to publication. But we shall see. This long-threatened project ain't dead yet.

I'm still thinking of self-publishing a collection of my short stories. I've also been pulling at the threads of a couple of novels, one expanding my previous stories about my Old West gunfighter the Copperhead Kid and his descendants (the 1930s masked vigilante, the 1960s secret agent, the 1980s punk chick, the present-day superhero, and more), and the other one my rock 'n' roll TV fantasy Meet The Frantiks!, from which I've previewed Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and even the imaginary TV show's theme song.

This week, I agreed to take on a secret nonfiction book project, something I'm very excited to do even though I'm simultaneously intimidated by the sheer amount of work it will require. There is a lot to do here, but if I can pull it off, it will all be worth it. Details remain classified for now.

Before this secret project suddenly appeared on my to-do list, I was toying with the idea of another, entirely different nonfiction book. That is most definitely going on the back burner for now. And, of course, there's always The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 2).

So: work to do! Writing books is like eating potato chips: No one can do just one.
