Back in 2012, Free Comic Book Day creator Joe Field sponsored a special all-comics edition of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl. I reprised the playlist here on the blog for FCBD 2016, but it's time for a fresh look back at TIRnRR's salute to Free Comic Book Day.
Alas, the original download link for the radio show itself is long gone. I still have a copy of the show, albeit a somewhat garbled copy, and if I can figure out a way to share it here, I will.
Meanwhile: do the biff-bang-pow to the music, then get yourself to your local participating comics retailer and enjoy FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2019.
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl, Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse on SPARK! WSPJ-LP 103.3 and 93.7 FM, and on the web at http://sparksyracuse.org/
This past week's edition of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl was devoted solely to FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, and it was programmed in part by FCBD's creator, Joe Field. The challenge was to create a solid three-hour show of cool tunes inspired by or otherwise linked to the broad 'n' diverse world of comics, and we met that challenge as surely as Superman saved the world from Solomon Grundy. The show itself is super, amazing, astonishing, astounding, brave and bold, incredible, a marvel, top-notch, an American splendor and frankly, the world's finest. Also weird, but more fun. 'Nuff said. We humbly (HA!) suggest you download yourself a copy from the Programs section of our website, www.westcottradio.org, and get set for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY this Saturday, May 5th, at participating comic book stores across the whole friggin' planet. Thanks, Joe! And this is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a four-color Sunday night in Syracuse this week. Excelsior!
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl streams live every Sunday night from 9 to Midnight Eastern, exclusively at www.westcottradio.org.
