THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Flashback: KISS and DEL-FI RECORDS

I don't have digital copies of many This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio playlists prior to late November of 2010, the point when I started posting them on Facebook. I just found a small cache of slightly older ones, going back about a year before that, and I'll be sharing a few of them here for the benefit of those who came to TIRnRR at a later date. This is the oldest surviving digital file, covering two weeks' worth of playlists from November 2009, spotlighting my top 10 KISS songs one week, then Del-Fi Records the next (along with the TIRnRR debut of Jamie & Steve). Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear: This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio rides again!

Hello again from THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl, your alleged source for The Best Three Hours Of Radio On The Whole Friggin' Planet.  Between watching basketball and reading the latest Sara Paretsky novel, a whompin' stompin' TWO WEEKS' worth o' playlists have stacked up here, so we better get to 'em.  Last week's show served up a countdown of the all-time Top Ten Best KISS Tracks, a salute to local DJ Dave Frisina on the 30th anniversary of his fab Soundcheck radio show, plus new music from The Deserters, D. Rogers, and The Len Price 3This week included our first spin of wonderful Spongetones side project Jamie & Steve, and we cast our dim widdle TIRnRR Spotlight on Del-Fi Records and its imprints, in memory of the late Del-Fi guy Bob Keane, accomplished with a mix of classic Del-Fi sides by Ritchie Valens, The Bobby Filler Four, and Little Caesar & the Romans (among many others), and latter-day DF2K tracks from Cloud Eleven, Outrageous Cherry, and Kari Wuhrer.

TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS go to Syracuse Community Radio, 826 Euclid Avenue, Syracuse, NY  13210.  Please let us know if you need to be deleted from our (nearly) weekly greetings.  NEXT WEEK:  Central New York rockin' pop performer Petey Lightning will join us for some laughs and some tunes.  IN TWO WEEKS:  on Sunday, December 20th, it's THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO CHRISTMAS SHOW.  'Cause everywhere it's Christmas, and we're off to join the cheer!  And this is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a couple of Sunday nights in Syracuse these last two weeks.

THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana & Carl streams live every Sunday night from 9 to Midnight Eastern, exclusively at www.westcottradio.org.
