Over thirty years ago, our pal Dave Murray was the very first fan of the very first Dana & Carl radio series We're Your Friends For Now. He's stuck with us ever since then, and it's been our pleasure to use the power of radio to transmogrify the occasional record he's hated on first spin into something he recognizes as rockin' pop brilliance. The Stallions' punk-fueled '90s cover of the obscure '60s garage number "Why" is our favorite example of a track Dave loathed and then came to love. The power of radio, my friends.
Sunday was Dave's birthday. He has one every year at that time. This year, we figured we'd celebrate by playin' a record Dave loves more than we do: "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" by that Bard of the Jersey shore, Mr. Bruce Springsteen. Now, we love it, too.
And then we followed Bossman Brucie with "Why" by the Stallions. POWER! Happy Birthday, Dave. And this is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on a Sunday night in Syracuse this week.
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK!
