THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO: The Making Of COME ON LET'S GO!, A Celebration Of Classic Power Pop, Pure Pop, And The Power Pop Periphery

This week's edition of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl served up a celebration of classic power pop, pure pop, and the power pop periphery from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. As we noted at the beginning of the show, we had nearly seven and a half hours of music pulled for our mere three-hour time slot. The list below offers a look at the tracks we were considering.

And there were certainly more tracks we could have considered. For the sake of logistics--I was on the road this week, when we would normally be settling the playlist--we needed to limit our choices beforehand, and then build the show from what we had. We knew we were going to play all of the Flashcubes' singles, from the '70s to 2022 (including a new one, a cover of Cyrus Erie's "Get The Message," that hasn't been released yet), plus Jesse Bryson's current cover of Fotomaker's "Come Back," for which Jesse enlisted the aid of some members of the Flashcubes and Fotomaker. We also wanted to throw in "No Promise," which should have been the Flashcubes' third single back in 1979.

The rest of the show? Up for grabs! Everything else drew exclusively from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Dana picked a bunch of songs from the list, I picked another bunch of songs from the list, and we had a show. We favored stuff that fit my idea of power pop, but also deliberately included various pure pop and power pop periphery gems that seemed to fit in the overall mix. Here's what we had to work with in building COME ON LET'S GO! A Celebration Of Classic Power Pop, Pure Pop, And The Power Pop Periphery.
