Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: Tracks introduced via CD reissues

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

I am here today to speak on behalf of the compact disc. Each of the tracks in this imaginary playlist is something that was released on vinyl, but which was introduced to my record collection via a CD reissue.

In most cases, these were literal introductions, tracks I didn't really know prior to acquiring them on some shiny li'l platter or another. I think I did know Ronnie Spector and the E Street's cover of Billy Joel's "Say Goodbye To Hollywood" from what little radio play it accrued circa 1977, I probably borrowed the Kinks' Think Visual LP from the library way before it was reissued on CD, and I for damned sure knew Roxy Music's Avalon from in-store play when I worked record retail in the '80s. But the rest are mostly tracks I knew first from my CDs.

I respect vinyl fans; I'm just not one of them. The dedication to digging what we dig extends to how we prefer to dig what we dig. But, whatever format you choose and cherish, the music itself is what matters.

Now: Dig some tracks introduced to my eager ears on compact disc.
