Each week, the pop culture website Pop-A-Looza shares some posts from my vast 'n' captivating Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) archives. The latest shared post is a collection of short Virtual Ticket Stub Gallery live concert memories, spotlighting opening acts.
It occurs to me that I haven't seen an opening act since August of 2019, when I witnessed a rockin' performance by Dog Party in the support slot before a C. J. Ramone show. The pre-COVID live shows I saw after that didn't have opening acts, nor have the live shows I've seen since the world began clawing its way back toward the light. I hope to remedy that eventually.
But today we look back to a few times when I saw a special-guest group play right before I saw a bigger-name group play. Some were great. Some were not. Collectively, they provide the subject for the latest Boppin' Pop-A-Looza.
