My thoughts on pop music and pop culture, plus the weekly playlists from THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO with Dana and Carl (Sunday nights 9 to Midnight Eastern, SPARK! This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio # 851
Another challenge for The Green Hornet, his aide Kato, and their rolling arsenal, The Black Beauty! On police records a wanted criminal, The Green Hornet is really Britt Reid, owner-publisher of The Daily Sentinel, his true identity known only to his secretary and to the district attorney. And now, to protect the rights and lives of decent citizens, rides The Green Hornet!
Oh, what a lucky man he was....
The passings this week of both actor Van Williams (the star of TV's The Green Hornet) and guitarist and singer Greg Lake (of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) offer further assurance that, as time goes by, no one will ever utter this phrase: "Remember 2016? What a great year that was. Yeah, those were the days!"
In our ongoing effort to get through and get on, we offered a wonderful new pop track from Irene Pena (with our pal and esteemed Popdude John Borack percussioning), we served up the long-overdue TIRnRR debut of classic 1970s British punks The Vibrators, and we did what we do best: we played one great record, followed by another great record, great record after great record, until the midnight hour said our time was done for the week. 2016 will fade. We'll continue for as long as our will dictates. We're not gonna let one lousy year stop us.
Are we?
