THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Featured Artists Yet To Be [an updated list]

Featured Artists have been a sporadic treat on This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio for years. When we feature an act on TIRnRR, we play at least one track by that artist in each six-song set throughout the course of that week's show. Last week's Featured Artist was The Flamin' Groovies, and we got around to playing 17 Groovies tracks before the stroke of midnight (and wept over the mass of additional Flamin' Groovies tracks we didn't have time to play).  We don't wanna do Featured Artists every week, but we enjoy doing them as we get around to them.

On November 15th of last year, we published a list of TIRnRR Featured Artists Yet To Be. These were acts we might want to feature on a future show, but hadn't done so yet. The list remains nearly intact from eleven months ago, with only The Flamin' Groovies and Chuck Berry moving from the queue to the actual honor roll call of TIRnRR Featured Artists. (On the other hand, we did feature Pop Co-Op, The Creation/The Mark FourCotton Mather, and Glen Campbell, each of whom wasn't on the original list of potential Featured Artists Yet To Be, and Dana did a 40th anniversary feature on The Flashcubes. Ya never know with us. We never know with us.)

As our 900th show approaches (currently scheduled for December 3rd), it's time to update our list of TIRnRR Featured Acts Yet To Be. We hope to get to a few more of them in short order. If scheduling allows it, we're thinking of doing another edition of THE MAGNIFICENT SIX!, in which we turn one entire show over to six Featured Artists. We've tentatively picked five of the six artists, though only three of those five were on the list published last year; a fourth one should have been on this list (I..er, forgot to include them last year), and the fifth is an act we didn't really know so well a year ago. We'll announce details when we fabricate them. (And, for the record, our one previous edition of The Magnificent Six was in 2013, and featured Michael Nesmith, Big Star, The Bevis Frond, The Pretenders, Lyres, and Rachael Gordon. We're long overdue for a return to The Magnificent Six.)
