Today we have the third of artist Neal Adams' turns at the drawing board for the final four issues of DC Comics' long-running humor book The Adventures Of Bob Hope. The hippie references are very 1967, and reminiscent of the sort of skit one might have found Hope himself doing on a TV special in this era; kinda reminds me of an earlier (pre-hippie) TV bit Hope did with Jack Benny and The Beach Boys. Dated? Yep. Funny anyway? Well, I like it!
The DC house ads offer additional nostalgic clang for your click, including an attempt at a teen mag called Teen Beat, an All-Bizarro Superman 80-Page Giant that I remember quite well, and an equally-memorable black-and-white spot for the unliving heroes Deadman and The Spectre. Brrr!
It's unclear who holds the rights to this material, but The Adventures Of Bob Hope is presumed to be copyright the respective owner(s). Its appearance here is intended as fair use. As I said before, it's unfortunate that rights issues will likely prevent DC's The Adventures Of Bob Hope and The Adventures Of Jerry Lewis from ever being reprinted; they're decent humor comics on the whole, and they deserve to be preserved. But right here on this blog, you can read The Adventures Of Bob Hope # 106 and The Adventures Of Bob Hope # 107, with final issue # 109 coming soon. Take it away, Bob!
