We've been very hard at work prepping our forthcoming compilation CD This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio, Volume 5. We seem to be on track for a September release from our friends at Kool Kat Musik, but, as we all know, even a fast track can run into speed bumps. Still, things look pretty good right now.
Now, we kinda need to take a step back and breathe for a moment. This has been a gratifying process, and we can't wait for you to hear the result, but we also need to pause for a sweet second before turning our attention to restarting our hype machine.
As we acknowledge the necessity of a quick nap, here's the story of TIRnRR # 5's so far:
The album has been mastered by Kurt Reil at his mighty House Of Vibes studio, and it sounds nothing short of magnificent.
The master has been turned over to the CD manufacturer, who has burned the DDP and is waiting for the artwork.
The text for the package has been turned in to Kool Kat's Ray Gianchetti. The text includes liner notes, individual track credits, and acknowledgements. Ray will send all of this to his graphics guy.
And that's enough for now. Below you'll see the current draft version of our direct hype for the CD:
"2022 marks 30 years since THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO hosts Dana & Carl's first radio series We're Your Friends For Now in 1992. As Carl's daughter Meghan Jean Cafarelli says, 'These guys are still at it? Some people never grow up!' And there's no better way to celebrate such bewildering longevity than with a new compilation album: THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO, VOLUME 5!
"This is the first full-fledged TIRnRR compilation in five years, and it continues Dana & Carl's dedication to crafting collections that aren't merely a bunch of great tracks thrown together, but which serve as a rewarding listening experience, flowing together with precise intent, track after track. Of this album's 23 music tracks, 18 are either previously unreleased, first time on CD, or long. long out of print and impossible to find. The stellar line-up includes LAURIE BIAGINI, THE MAYFLOWERS, PERILOUS, POP CO-OP, MAURA AND THE BRIGHT LIGHTS, HOOVER AND MARTINEZ, CAROLYNE MAS, DEADLIGHTS, IRENE PEÑA, CHRIS VON SNEIDERN, ARIELLE EDEN, STEVENSON AND COMPANY, JUSTINE AND THE UNCLEAN, THE JANGLE BAND, KID GULLIVER, GARY FRENAY, KELLEY RYAN, TALL POPPY SYNDROME, IN DEED, BALLZY TOMORROW, THE VILLAS, AMY RIGBY, and EYTAN MIRSKY, all mastered for maximum pop punch by the mighty KURT REIL at his House Of Vibes studio.
"Hidden within the individual track credits are contributions from Clem Burke of Blondie, Wreckless Eric, Marti Jones, Robbie Rist, Vince Melouney of the original five-piece Bee Gees, Marc Johnson, Fernando Perdomo, Alec Palao, and members of the Flashcubes, the Spongetones, the Pandoras, the Kennedys, the Tubes, the Jigsaw Scene, Jack and the Beanstalk, and more. When Dana & Carl ask their musical friends to come out and play, a righteous rockin' pop party is inevitable."
Well, I'm sold! Hope you are, too. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, you can still catch up on our previous compilations:
