Just saw this post regarding the recent snippet of The Flashcubes' punk nugget "Damaged Beyond Repair" heard on the December 6th episode of the ABC-TV sitcom Speechless:
More about one of last night's music cues: The Flashcubes, "Damaged Beyond Repair" (2:26)
The punk rock music cue in last night's @Speechless_ABC comes from Syracuse's own Flashcubes: syracuse.com/entertainment/ …
i didn't pick them, but my bandmates were from the 'cuse and I lit up when Scott Silveri told me that was gonna be the selection.
According to this blog post, back in late October when this ep was filmed, music writer and radio host Carl Cafarelli heard about his favorite band being mentioned on the set, and he gave the members a heads-up:
The band themselves were so tickled by this news, they posted an announcement on their official Facebook before the ep aired, and then a clip afterwards: "Network TV premiere!"
(This particular song was new to me, but the 'Cubes had another song I like called "Christi Girl" (1978).) :)
Well...cool! But I'm still curious about how The Flashcubes' track made its way into the show to begin with.
