WHAM-O GIANT COMICS # 1

Here's a rarity and oddity from 1967: the first and only issue of Wham-O Giant Comics, the largest American comic book ever published. Man, this thing's huge, and you'll have to zoom in on the images to see all the stuff jam-packed herein. The book itself was a strange, goofy idea, but what else should one have expected from Wham-O? Strange and goofy was Wham-O's modus operandi, and it gave us everything from Silly String to Slip 'N Slide, Frisbees to Hula Hoops, Super Elastic Bubble Plastic to Wham-O Giant Comics.

Legendary artist Wally Wood, one of the all-time greats, contributed two stories to Wham-O, and the book also features work from Lou Fine, Ernie Colon, and even Little Lulu's John Stanley, among many others. And it is indeed an oddity. But it's a distinctive oddity, worth preserving for posterity.

Wham-O Giant Comics is presumed to be copyright the respective owners. Its appearance here is intended as fair use. We're reasonably certain there are no current plans to reprint this one anywhere, ever. So...stay in and play!
