A previous post told the story of how I became a fan of the original Captain Marvel. For your reading entertainment: the complete seven-chapter Spy Smasher Vs. Captain Marvel serial, which ran in Fawcett's Whiz Comics # 15-18 in 1941. The material is now in the public domain, and these lo-fi scans are readily available on the internet. The characters themselves are now copyright DC Comics Inc., and DC has made the entire serial available in much better quality in the 1999 hardcover collection The Shazam! Archives Volume 2. That's not public domain, so buy it awready! Either way, kick back and enjoy this epic first meeting between two of Fawcett Comics' most popular characters.
