Once, Twice, Three Times The Secret Projects

I suddenly find myself with not one, not two, but THREE big projects at hand. Two of the projects are linked together, while the third is all by itself on its own widdle island. Each of the projects is a secret at this time, though I think I'll be announcing the first project in the very near future.

That first secret project is a book. No, not that one. I was approached to do this book, and I think it's a great idea. It's also more than a bit intimidating, simply because of the amount of work involved. So, of course, I went and made more work by attaching a related audio project based on my own notion. I tell ya, I hate me sometimes. But the secret audio project will enhance the secret book project, and I'm excited to see them both through. The two projects share a working title: M*** ********* ******, each with an individual subtitle. Details forthcoming on the first project...pretty soon, I think. Retail target date for both the book and the audio is Summer 2025.

The third secret project is also a book. Even more than the first project, this opportunity came to me out of the blue, and I'm still dizzied by its sudden appearance on my to-do list. It's a co-write, and the book's main auteur solicited my involvement in a text message on Tuesday. Why me? I'm told I have, quote, "the sense of humor for this."

Awrighty!

This book is unlike anything I've ever attempted. It's also the sort of rare opportunity that I can't decline; it would be just plain stupid to pass up this gig, no matter how big the peril of overcommitting myself. Not because of a paycheck, but because it's a cool thing that doesn't come along every day. Gotta do it. I'm remarkably stubborn, which can be a character flaw, but which can come in really handy when there's work to be done. On Wednesday, I proposed a potential title for the book (I, ****** ******), and concocted a little blurb to see if I'm on the same page as the project's principal creator. Same page achieved! This book has the potential to be a blast anna half, man. I will do my best to avoid screwing it up.

As mentioned in passing way up top, I also have that other book, my long-threatened tome The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). I have not given up on this thing, and I remain hopeful that the publication of my Ramones book last year can still eventually lead GREM! to a bookstore near you. But GREM! is already written, done. I spent about five years of my life writing it, and it will break my freakin' heart if a GREM! book never appears. But its ultimate fate has little bearing on my current projects.

With these three secret projects (and my ongoing prayer for the GREM! book), all other projects in development are effectively benched for the time being. This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl will continue, of course, and this blog still intends to remain a daily fixture for those discerning few who dig it. My proposed novel and short story collection are settling in on the back burner until further notice.

That's okay. I have a lot of other work to do first. Guess I better get writing.
