On Thursday, Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) accrued its four millionth click. This blog is nearing its eleventh birthday (January 18th), and frankly, four million accumulated tappety-taps over the course of more than a decade ain't all that impressive in this TikTok age.
BUT! More than half of that four million accrued in the last year. In this post from November of 2025, the ledger only registered 1,961,894, and I mentioned my hope that Boppin' would hit its 2 millionth bop by mid-January. It took me eight years to get to the one-million mark. I do realize that nearly all of these clicks upon clicks upon clicks are byproducts of bots and AI rather than engagement with actual, y'know...human beings. Readers! I love readers! I wish I had more of them!
Nonetheless, as a great philosopher once noted, I yam what I yam. Never mind that this great philosopher made that statement in between (and during) mouthfuls of spinach. Whether the audience is flesh and blood or the advance cybernetic minions of the new order, the Bop goes on.
And for the time being, it's back to boppin' a daily basis. I may switch back to sporadic blogging at any moment, but I'm currently trying to balance the need to make time for other projects with the need to remain in the practice of writing something on a regular basis. You can't be a writer if you don't write, and you can't become a better writer if you don't keep on writing.
I'm a work in progress. But I'm still here. And I betcha the bots think I'm pretty, too.

My new book of short stories Guitars Vs. Rayguns!! Short Stories And Other White Lies is out now, and you can get autographed copies of the new book, its six-chapter novelette digest A Band Called GUITARS VS. I compiled a various-artists tribute album called Make Something Happen! A Tribute To The Flashcubes, and it's pretty damned good; you can read about it here and order it here.
