Fake THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO Playlist: Selections From My Record Collection When I Was In High School

This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.

We've been doing fake playlists of music I listened to during the summer in between my high school graduation and the start of college, of my college dorm music, of my summer music in between years at college, and the music that played in my first apartment after I snagged my BA in 1980. These playlists are fun to do, and I'll probably follow up with a couple of near-future slap-togethers of the music of my second apartment and what played in my third apartment. We're not going to attempt a playlist of stuff I've listened to at home since I bought a house in 1989.

But today, I'm going back to high school.

AUGHHH! NOOOOOOOO!

Heh. Sorry! The idea of having to go back to high school triggered me. But music's always a good thing. Today's exercise gathers together a few tunes I had in my possession during the time I was serving my sentence at North Syracuse Central High School, 1973-1977. It excludes records that actually belonged to my older siblings (though I was really tempted to spin my sister's 45 of "Nothing But A Heartache" by the Flirtations).

No, these were all mine, whether it was a single, an LP, or my cassette of the Billy Jack soundtrack, and whether we're dealing with an act's individual album, a Greatest Hits set, or a various-artists compilation. It includes gifts and independent purchases impartially, used and new alike, with sounds snapped up at retail and second hand, at the mall and at the flea market. High school CC owned 'em all.

Let's listen.
