This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl is simply too large a concept to be neatly contained within a mere three-hour weekly time slot. Hence these occasional fake TIRnRR playlists, detailing shows we're never really going to do...but could.
On this blog (and--let's face it!--everywhere else), I often mention my long-threatened book The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). With the publication of my Ramones book in May of this year, it's been my hope that one book can lead to another. That hope remains in place, and there has been a teensy bit of movement on that front; nothing seismic, not even anything close to being formalized. But the project is still alive.
An infinite number of tracks can each be THE greatest record ever made, as long as they take turns. With such a vast playground available for frolickin' at will, I've exercised the option of writing waaay more GREM! chapters than could fit it into a single book. Why, I betcha there are enough GREM! chapters-in-waiting to fill a three-hour playlist!
And then some, mates.Today's imaginary radio show gathers tracks for which I wrote a rhapsodic waxing in some Greatest Record Ever Made! capacity: Most as potential GREM! entries, many as entries in some of my other blog series, but most of 'em potential fodder for The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume *2*), if such a thing ever happens. The playlist only includes songs for which I completed a draft of a chapter; there are many, many more songs whose GREM! write-ups haven't yet achieved that elusive status of Done--NEXT!
And none of the songs below is among the 145 entries in the--cross your fingers!--proposed book The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). Consider this a tuneful tease of what might follow.
If the infinite allows.
